I'm wanting to set up mySQL (where do i start?)

Hey everyone,

I really want to learn more about using mySQL for registration forms and creating accounts.

Any information on this topic to point me in the right direction would be great.

I am very vague with how registration forms work with mySQL etc but i would like to learn all about this.

Hi ashwadds,

There's thousands of websites and books on using MySQL because it's so popular. However, you'll need to use it with another programming language like PHP.

Have you worked with PHP before?

i havev't really worked with PHP either, i did purchase a book which touches base with PHP, i think have a lot of reading up to do.

If you want to get into web development, PHP and MySQL are really good to know.

The reason I ask about PHP is because MySQL alone can't process your online forms. A typical online form would send the data to a PHP script, which would then store the data in the MySQL database.

One of the well known tutorial sites is W3 Schools. You might want to try that to start with.
