Postby JustinS on Sat Oct 11, 2008 11:49 am

Here it is, the one and only show-off-your-work thread.

Feel free to place links to any sites you have designed and provide some info i.e Design Software used, Time spent designing it, what makes it great etc.

For those new to designing, feel free to ask people questions about their sites.

Cheers!

www.miccas.net is my website, which is powered by Joomla! with a custom developed theme that I made.

www.msnvirusremoval.com is a custom made website built from scratch, designed and coded by me.

Hate to tell you this but neither of the links you put are working? 404 Site not found. :?
Try again as I love looking at different sites to get ideas
Mine is http://www.gatewayfamily.org.au I use Dreamweaver, learnt it from a book, found out how to do the drop down menus just a few months ago, I've been wanting to do them for ages. Amazing how easy things are once you find out how!

My site is at www.bearly.net
It has been around for a lot of years and has grown over time as web sites do.
I use Dreamweaver, which I love. Very easy to use with its WYSIWYG functionality. I can't compare to other software as it's the only one I've used.
If anyone would care to comment on my site, I'd be grateful for your thoughts.
Thanks.

Hi,
I cruised through your site and had a look. It is fine for your purpose. I'm not putting myself up as any sort of expert in web design here. I too learnt Dreamweaver from a book and my own site is far from perfect.
However, as someone that views sites constantly, I think yours might benefit by using a larger font size on most of your pages. Your book review page is easier to read than most others as it has a font of a reasonable size. You might also consider breaking things up a bit with larger headings, put a space between headings and the body of your text, use pictures or cartoons to help make points or to lighten things with a bit of humour.
I enjoyed the read.

Thanks for that! I shall work on it a bit more over the next few days, It's a revamp of a very tired looking site I had up before and is no where finished yet. Good idea about the cartoons and things, I got quite a few I get from Pearly Gates. I was looking at the font size myself yesterday and thought it needed to be a bit larger. Appreciate the pointers! I left one for you too somewhere

'Tis good to blow one's own trumpet occasionally, after all, no-one's gonna blow it for you!

Recent site made for friends:

http://www.fullcirclesolutions.info

Lotsa stuff in there though my favourite page has to be, 'cos of it's simplicity, the music page:

http://www.fullcirclesolutions.info/music.html

From start to finish took two weeks working silly hours with constant contact via PalTalk.

That is the last site I did for free, and strangely enough, since I said "I ain't working for nothing anymore" requests have increased. Currently making a site selling jewellery for the fullcirclesolutions folks - and this time they gonna pay!

I'm just developin' ...

I've been with Unlimited-Space for a two years now. My first site created with Dreamweaver using free Envision HTML/CSS tableless template from Styleshout.com. Great for learning how to do it! This site is our family website which contains some flash/actionscript animated image galleries (scroller, snapshots, flipbook, jigsaw puzzle, video and visitors book)
http://www.helensnee.id.au

Also created site for environmental group using 'Bright side of life' template from styleshout.
Includes javascript scrolling box, events calendar from google. Bird image gallery created in PHP and MySQL with Login admin function to create, modify and delete user, bird and image records.
http://www.fotc.com.au
Also a website for a plant database using the same template, in PHP/MySQL with more extensive indexing and search facility.
http://www.victorianflora.lifesites.com.au

Lately have been investigating Joomla and working on a site for local school at
http://www.warringapark.helensnee.id.au

This site uses RHUK Milkyway template. I'll be grateful for any help from the joomla experts when I get stuck.
